As an Engineer, you serve as a technical expert in the Enterprise Collaboration team. You will apply your skills, experience, and talents to be a part of a team responsible for enabling productivity and collaboration in a large, complex, and fast paced environment. This position is primarily focused on Microsoft 365 Administration (email, Office, license, and tenant management). Portfolio makeup and responsibilities may change over time based on our strategy.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the administration, maintenance, and support of collaboration products and services.
- Evaluate modern technologies and take part in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target’s technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership.
- Initiate and execute research and proof-of-concept activities for modern technologies. Contribute to the design, lifecycle management, and total cost of ownership of services.
- Prepare high quality system documentation to aid in troubleshooting and knowledge transfer activities.
- Closely monitor systems for performance and availability issues and act with a sense of urgency to resolve problems as they arise. You understand and appreciate the impact of poor reliability on our users. You will work on individual incidents and be part of the on-call rotation to respond with urgency when major incidents occur. You will represent our team on conference calls led by the Technology Operations Center and drive for resolution.
- You will focus on incident prevention and enable level 1 and level 2 support teams to resolve incidents where possible.
- You focus on governance and will help define and implement processes that proactively address security and compliance risks.
- You will be an active participant in setting team OKR’s quarterly. You will develop a strong partnership with the Product Owner and other Engineers to consistently push the team to focus on the most important outcomes.
- You will be an active participant in all agile ceremonies (stand up, backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives).
- You will actively partner with vendors and monitor their roadmaps to effectively plan for changes to services before they hit our production tenant. Maintain stage/test environments for validation of new product features or versions.
- You will support the Product Owner to prepare required end-user documentation to enable deployment and adoption.
- You will contribute to and review solution designs to ensure business requirements are met, and proposed solutions align with technical roadmaps. Understand Target’s architecture and make smart choices that align with it.
- You will collaborate cross-functionally with security and other technical teams (e.g., Network, Identity/Authentication). You will develop strong partnerships with multiple teams to deliver secure, stable, high-performance solutions to our users.
- Participate in standard I.T. practices and procedures (e.g., production change management). You focus on operational efficiency and pursue ideas to improve it (e.g., automation).
About you:
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience
- 1+ years in system administration, focusing on email, Office, and Microsoft 365
- Ability to understand and support integrations with other products
- Knowledge of APIs like Microsoft Graph
- Continuously enhances domain-specific knowledge
- Proficient in at least one scripting language, preferably PowerShell or Python
- Keeps up to date with evolving technologies through formal training and self-education
- Focused on testing and quality, capable of resolving technical issues independently
- Effective collaborator, committed to building strong relationships and supporting the team's best interests
- Skilled in prioritizing tasks and managing workloads efficiently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
